We have some unexpected and incredibly exciting news to share with all our members, parents, and friends of the 6th East Kilbride Scout Group.
As many of you know, we previously applied for a Community Asset Transfer for Calderwood Community Hall but were unfortunately unsuccessful. However, the hall has unexpectedly become available again, and we are launching a brand-new bid to secure it as a permanent home for our Scout Group!
A dedicated venue would be a massive milestone for our group, giving our young people a safe, permanent, and brilliant space to thrive for generations to come.
We Need Your Help to Win the Bid!
To make our application stand out to the council this time, we need to prove the overwhelming level of community support we have. We are calling on our parents, carers, and the wider East Kilbride community to help us in two major ways:
1. Fill Out Our Quick Support Survey
Whether you have a child in the group, are a former Scout, or simply want to support local youth, please take 60 seconds to complete our online survey. Your response provides the vital evidence the council needs to see.

2. Lending Your Skills & Professional Expertise
Running and maintaining our own venue will be a massive team effort. Part of our bid involves proving to the council that we have the collective expertise to look after the building.
If you are a parent or supporter with skills in any of the following areas, we would love to hear from you:
- Trades: Joiners, electricians, plumbers, painters, builders, etc.
- Professional Services: Facilities management, health & safety, legal/contracts, architecture, or project management.
- DIY: Anyone who is handy and willing to help with future upkeep!
If you can lend your expertise, please get in touch.
Keeping the Hall at the Heart of Calderwood
Our vision isn’t just about securing a home for the 6th East Kilbride Scout Group; it’s about protecting a vital local asset. If our bid is successful, the hall will remain fully available for public hire, community groups, and local events. We want to ensure it stays open, active, and beneficial for everyone in the area.
Thank you, as always, for your incredible, continued support. Let’s do everything we can to bring this home for the community and our young people!
