Volunteer Opportunity: Group Quartermaster Wanted!
Are you practical, organised, and looking for a way to give back to the local community?
6th East Kilbride Scout Group is on the lookout for a Group Quartermaster to help look after our camping kit, activity gear, and equipment store.
About the Role
Our Scouts, Cubs, Beavers, and Explorers love spending time outdoors, camping, and taking part in adventurous activities. To make that happen safely, we rely on having well-maintained, clean, and organised equipment.
As our Quartermaster, you’ll play a key behind-the-scenes role in making these adventures possible.
Key responsibilities include:
- Store Management: Keeping our equipment store clean, safe, and organised.
- Kit Maintenance & Repairs: Checking camping gear and tools, keeping accurate inventory records, and carrying out basic repairs (such as tent seams, guy ropes, or stove seals).
- Inventory & Procurement: Tracking borrowed kit and advising our leadership team on new or replacement equipment needed to support our youth programmes.

- Flexible Hours: This role does not require attending weekly section meetings. The time commitment is flexible—roughly 2 to 4 hours a month, with extra check-ins before and after major camps.
- Make a Local Impact: You’ll directly enable hundreds of local young people in East Kilbride to gain new skills, build confidence, and experience the outdoors.
