The 6th East Kilbride Scout Group is facing a bittersweet challenge—we have an incredible 83 young people eager to join the adventure of Scouting, but they are stuck on our waiting list!
While we are thrilled by the demand, it means 83 children and young adults in our community are currently missing out on fun, skills, and friendship.
Waiting List Breakdown: A Huge Opportunity!
Our current waiting list numbers show just how many sections we could open if we had the adult support:
- 🐿️ Squirrels (4-6 years old): 14 young people
- 💙 Beavers (6-8 years old): 44 young people
- 💚 Cubs (8-10.5 years old): 11 young people
- 🧡 Scouts (10.5-14 years old): 14 young people
Look at what we could open right now:
- 1 New Squirrel Drey (for those 14 Squirrels)
- 2 New Beaver Colonies (for those 44 Beavers!)
- 1 New Cub Pack (for those 11 Cubs)
- 1 New Scout Troop (for those 14 Scouts)
🔑 The Missing Piece: Volunteers
To turn these opportunities into reality and get these 83 young people into uniform, we urgently need adult volunteers. Without dedicated leaders and helpers, these new sections cannot open, and the waiting list will keep growing.

How You Can Help:
We need people to step forward for roles such as:
- Team Leads: Responsible for planning and running weekly meetings.
- Team members: Supporting the Section Leader during meetings and activities.
- Occasional Helpers: Helping out once a month or for specific events/camps.
Even if you can only commit a couple of hours a week, you can make a massive difference!
