The 6th East Kilbride Scout Group is buzzing with young energy! We’ve seen a fantastic surge in interest in our Beaver Scouts, so much so that we now have a significant waiting list of eager youngsters ready to embark on their Scouting adventure. To give these children the opportunity to learn, grow, and have fun, we’re exploring the exciting possibility of launching a second Beaver Colony.
But we can’t do it alone. We’re reaching out to our wonderful community to ask for your help in making this dream a reality. Do you have a few hours a week to spare and a passion for helping young people thrive? Could you bring enthusiasm, creativity, and a can-do attitude to our team? If so, we’d love to hear from you!
What are Beaver Scouts?
For those unfamiliar, Beaver Scouts are typically aged between 6 and 8 years old. They meet regularly to take part in a wide range of fun and engaging activities, from games and crafts to outdoor adventures and learning about the world around them. It’s a fantastic way for children to develop confidence, make friends, and learn valuable life skills in a safe and supportive environment.
Why Volunteer? The Rewards are Immense!
Volunteering with Beaver Scouts is incredibly rewarding. You’ll have the chance to:
- Make a real difference in the lives of young people: You’ll be helping them to build confidence, learn new skills, and have fun in a positive and encouraging setting.
- Become part of a friendly and supportive team: Our existing volunteer team is passionate and welcoming, and you’ll find it’s a great way to connect with others in your community.
- Develop your own skills: Volunteering can help you build leadership, communication, and teamwork skills, which can be valuable in all aspects of your life.
- Have fun! Let’s face it, who doesn’t enjoy getting involved in games, crafts, and outdoor activities?
What Kind of Help Do We Need?
We’re looking for enthusiastic individuals to take on various roles, including:
- Regular Volunteers: Planning and running weekly meetings, leading activities, and ensuring the safety and well-being of the Beavers.
- Assistant Volunteers: Supporting the regular volunteers with activities and helping to supervise the Beavers.
- Occasional Helpers: Offering support on an ad-hoc basis for specific events or activities.
No prior Scouting experience is necessary! We provide full training and ongoing support to all our volunteers. What’s most important is a positive attitude, a willingness to learn, and a genuine desire to work with young people.
